One of the most surefire bets for taking something and making it cooler is to add a dinosaur. You can fight all you want, but good luck. Pajamas, museums, chicken nuggets, and yes, even movies, all get at least a little more interesting when you drop dinosaurs into the mix.
One of my most anticipated releases for the summer, David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street, knows this to be true as well, putting a spin on the family adventure by taking the neighborhood block and filling it with some of the Mesozoic Era’s finest. Before it hits theaters, I took it upon myself to get these top best dinosaur moments of the last 25 years preserved in amber.
10. Triceratops Fight, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014)
Maybe the CGI doesn’t hold up very well, but having a dinosaur fossil fight an armored knight is a perfect collision of imaginative movie action.
9. Yoshi’s Backstory, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026)
Giving Yoshi (yes, technically a dinosaur) a formal introduction by letting him loose in Brooklyn was maybe this movie’s highlight.
8. “I’ve got a big head, and little arms!”, Meet the Robinsons (2007)
When I was 8 years old this was the funniest joke in the entire world.
7. T-Rex Water Rafting, Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)
Pulling right from the original source material, the disappearing dino trick orchestrated an exciting new way to think about a prehistoric chase sequence.
6. “Serpentine! Serpentine!”, Land of the Lost (2009)
Will Ferrell running from dinosaurs in a desert wasteland, what’s not to love?
5. Cave Attack, 65 (2023)
Maybe a bit derivative, but the suspense to build up this scene is executed as well as anything from the genre in recent years.
4. Meeting the First Boss, Minions (2015)
The Minions interning for a T-Rex is the kind of idea that gets you promoted.
3. King Kong Fights Dinosaurs, King Kong (2005)
Visually, this scene has aged incredibly well, but it’s also an incredible bit of action filmmaking.
2. Dinobot Charge, Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
I don’t think I need to explain why dinosaur robots are nearing the top of this list, argue with someone else about it.
1. T-Rex Saves the Day (Again), Jurassic World (2015)
The Jurassic movies love to rhyme, but bringing out the flares and running into the final battle, heels and all, produced one of the more iconic images of the franchise.
