Quentin, Here Are 4 Reasons You Should Watch ‘Toy Story 4’

Assorted Flavors features listicles and other movie-related goodies.

Quentin: I hear you. Toy Story 3 is a masterpiece and could have very easily ended the franchise on a high note. But here are some reasons why Toy Story 4 is worth your time.

1. New characters

Forky, Gabby Gabby, Duke Freaking Caboom. Each of these new characters deepen the philosophical and emotional well of the Toy Story franchise and prove that there are SO many fun and meaningful layers of this universe that are yet to be explored.

2. Forky’s existential crisis

Forky, who was randomly made one day by Bonnie at school, spends the entirety of the movie wondering how he got here and what his purpose is. With Woody’s help, he realizes his purpose is to love Bonnie and be loved by her in return. It’s quite simply a joy to behold and one of the better subplots in the greater Toy Story universe.

3. Woody’s clarity

For years, Woody knew exactly what his purpose was: To be Andy’s favorite toy. But what happens when your purpose changes? This film is about recognizing when a chapter of life is over and it’s about having the courage to let go and start a new one. And call me crazy here, Quentin, but based on your cynicism around the state of the movie industry and your shift towards writing books and plays, I have a feeling this revelation would speak to you pretty profoundly.

4. No Paul Dano

We’re pro-Dano here at Cinema Sugar, just thought that would be a selling point for you.
